The original piece was commissioned by King’s College London to be performed alongside Samuel Beckett’s monologue Not I, as part of a series of lectures, performances and talks on the theme of ‘The Cave’. The Monodrama focuses on a young woman who pieces together the journey she has made to the point of her death, with a background comprised of filmed images and soundscape featuring the elements along the way. The supporting voices come from different places, adding to the layers of language used and also to the uncertainty experienced by the protagonist. She realises that decisions she thought she was making have already been made, and it is perhaps too late to change the path she is following.
