WITH 8 DANCERS
EUROPEAN PREMIERE
[EN] New York City-based Gallim Dance was founded in 2007 by choreographer Andrea Miller, a former Batsheva Ensemble dancer. Its first visit to Luxembourg was in 2015 with Blush. In January 2017, Andrea Miller and the Gallim Dancers spent a week at the Grand Théâtre in creative development for their 10th Anniversary Work. During this week, the company conducted open rehearsals, workshops, lectures and an exclusive preview of the work in its developmental process.
Audiences are invited back to delight in the latest creation that explores what it means to be a woman. This dance-theatre hybrid dissolves boundaries between the artistic, personal and political experiences of our humanity. Cast for seven women, one man, one actor and a musician, the narrative unfolds through a series of emotional and theatrical events that are both universally recognisable, yet utterly unpredictable. Gallim’s work is stamped with a go-for-broke physicality, and a gift for locating the beauty in the grotesque; brimming with primal energy and often set to dynamic, unexpected musical selections, they inevitably surprise. This piece is coproduced by Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and co-presented with The Joyce Theater in New York City.
